These plans are offered through one of the best and largest European insurance companies with headquarters in one of the main international financial centers of the world: Guernsey, a self-governing British Crown dependency.
Guernsey has a unique statutory system of compensation among all the international financial centers. These policies establish that contract owners would receive at least 90% of the intended death or maturity benefits of their contracts on the unlikely event that an insurance company based in Guernsey would default on its obligations. Aside from the security that this regulatory environment provides investors, all financial transactions in Guernsey are completed in an environment that respects the right of every individual to conduct its business in complete privacy. Unless the law requires otherwise, these insurance companies would not reveal to third parties any information pertaining to businesses done by contract owners.
The insurance company that we represent for investment plans offers products with no or very low tax charges and that have enough flexibility to adapt to your changing circumstances. This insurance company has no tax charges in Guernsey, favoring the growth of the investments, with practically no taxes on contributions, capital gains or income. Furthermore, no taxes are paid in Guernsey when you cancel or withdraw money from your contract with the insurance company.
HOW DO INVESTMENT PLANS WORK?
Investment plans are available to individuals from 18 to 69 years of age. Although these plans have been designed to provide long-term benefits, they offer great flexibility to accommodate changes in your financial situation. After making periodic contributions during an initial period, you can change your periodic contributions.
To increase the future value of your contract, you can make additional unique contributions to your investment plan. All your unique contributions would go to a separate investment contract with no additional charges, as long as the periodic contributions contract remains in force.
Once you start your investment plan, your future contributions will grow in an environment practically free of taxes, and when your investment contract ends, you will receive all your investments free of taxes.
The minimum contribution to periodic contribution investment plans is US$150 per month for plans of 10 to 30 years, and of US$450 per month for investment plans of less than 10 years. The minimum contribution to unique contribution plans is US$22,500.
These investment plans receive loyalty bonuses for maintaining regular payments to your policy and enhanced allocation bonuses for larger investments.
In case of the death of the owner of the investment contract before the end of the duration of the contract, the insured amount would be 101% of the total value of the initial units, the additional contribution units and the bonus units. This value is computed using the market price of the units, and this amount is received by the beneficiaries of the investment contract owner free of income taxes, since the investment plans have a life insurance wrapper.
The investment plans can be denominated in and the contributions made in a number of currencies, including US dollars, British pounds, Japanese yen and euros.
The range of mutual funds — not mirror funds — in which you can invest amounts to over 120 mutual funds, and selected to represent most of the investment markets of the world. This range includes mutual funds investing in a single country, a single region, a single industry, best-in-class mutual funds, money market and fixed income mutual funds.
The contributions to the investment plans can be distributed among the available mutual funds. Furthermore, the investment strategy can be changed at any time, either by reallocating the existent contributions from one group of mutual funds to other, or by changing the future contributions to other group of mutual funds.
The performance of the investment plan is determined by the profitability of the mutual funds that you select. This profitability is measured by the price of the units that you have bought, which might either increase or decrease
